Right to Withdraw from Religious Education
Right to Withdraw from Religious Education
Religious Education (RE) is an important part of our curriculum at Tarvin Primary School. It helps children explore big questions, learn about a range of faiths and worldviews, and develop respect and understanding for others. As a Church of England school, we teach RE with care and in a way that welcomes families of all faiths and none. Parents and carers have the legal right to withdraw their child from all or part of RE lessons, and they don't have to give a reason. If you're thinking about doing this, please contact the Headteacher first so we can talk through what is taught, how it's taught, and any concerns you may have. Many questions can be resolved this way. If you still wish to withdraw your child, please confirm this in writing. The school will make sure your child is supervised during RE lessons. Please be aware that religious topics may sometimes come up naturally in other subjects, and these moments aren't covered by the right to withdraw.
